For more than three decades, Bacchus – a two-building restaurant, tavern and pool hall – has been a colorful mainstay of the downtown New Paltz landscape. Offering lunch, dinner and late-night snacks, as well as weekend brunches and more than 500 varieties of beer, Bacchus serves steak, chicken, pasta and seafood dishes (with an extensive salad bar) as well as excellent quesadillas, burritos and fajitas. Diners with special diets (ie. vegan, gluten-free) can also be accommodated. The secluded Bacchus courtyard patio is open (weather permitting) from spring through the fall, and is also available for private parties.
There is live music at the bar most Friday and Saturday nights.
In 2005, the folks at Bacchus broke through the tavern’s southern brick wall to formally include Bacchus Billiards — a family-friendly space featuring seven full-sized pool tables, ping pong, foosball, darts, video, pinball and Wii games.
